Day 7: A Small and Quiet Change for Your Soul 🍂

It’s been a journey of real, lasting wellness—step by step—and you’ve embraced every part of it. With just one more challenge left, you're about to complete something truly meaningful for your health and well-being. Let’s make this final day just as powerful!

Specifically something often overlooked but incredibly powerful—stillness. In the fast pace of life, we rarely allow ourselves to simply be still. But God often speaks to our souls in those quiet moments, and so today’s task is about embracing those pauses, whether you’re at home or out in the world.

We’re not asking you to carve out extra time or add something new to your day. Instead, we want you to notice the small, natural pauses that already exist. Whether you're waiting for water to boil in your kitchen, standing in line at a store, or sitting at a stoplight, these are perfect opportunities to embrace stillness and allow God to speak into your life.


Why Embracing Stillness Matters

In our fast-paced world, we fill every spare moment with activity or distraction. But here’s the truth: stillness allows us to hear God’s voice, reflect on His presence, and experience mental clarity and spiritual peace. By pausing and breathing deeply, we invite a deeper connection with God, which refreshes our mind and spirit.

It matters for your health too! 

Research does support the effectiveness of short, 1-minute micro-breaks in improving both mental and physical well-being. A study found that even taking a minute to step away or refocus can reduce stress and fatigue, enhance focus, and improve overall productivity. These brief breaks allow your brain to reset, helping to replenish cognitive resources and reduce the impact of stress on the nervous system.

One-minute breaks may seem short, but they can pack a punch, offering benefits like improved mental clarity, reduced stress, and even better eye health. These breaks are particularly effective when taken regularly throughout the day, giving your nervous system much-needed recovery​.

Incorporating these micro-breaks into daily routines can be a simple yet powerful tool for maintaining long-term mental and physical health..but they are the most important for your soul. 

In the hustle of daily life, it's easy to focus on caring for the mind, body, and heart while overlooking the soul. But taking care of your soul is just as important. It is the essence of you. Without tending to it, you can feel disconnected, ungrounded, and spiritually exhausted. Nurturing your soul deepens your sense of meaning, fuels your resilience, and strengthens your relationship with God. By investing in this often-overlooked area, you're building a well of spiritual strength that sustains you through life’s highs and lows.


Today’s Care Task: Embrace Stillness (Inside & Outside Your Home)

Today, your task is to notice the moments of stillness that already exist in your day, whether you’re inside your home or out and about. Here’s how to do it:

Inside Your Home:

  1. While waiting for coffee or tea to brew, pause and take a deep breath, reflecting on God’s presence.
  2. In the shower, let the warmth of the water relax your mind and body as you reflect on His peace.
  3. During a meal, take a moment of gratitude before your first bite, acknowledging the blessings He has provided.
  4. While folding laundry, focus on the rhythm of the task, thanking God for His provision in every detail.

Outside Your Home:

  1. At a stoplight or in traffic, instead of reaching for your phone, pause and breathe, inviting God into that moment of stillness.
  2. Waiting in line or for an elevator, take the opportunity to slow down and notice God’s presence in the ordinary.
  3. During your commute, whether on the train or walking, take a moment to be present and open your heart to His voice.

Why This Changes Everything

When we allow stillness to become part of our day, it shifts how we experience life. Stillness gives us the space to reflect on God’s presence and let go of daily stress. As you embrace these small pauses, you’ll start to feel more centered, spiritually refreshed, and mentally clear.

 

Take a moment today to embrace stillness—whether at home or out in the world—and let God meet you in those moments.
