The Easiest DIY Deodorant Recipe

In addition to non-toxic deodorant brands you can buy at the store, you can actually easily make your own!  The simple directions are below.

  • 3 tbsp virgin coconut oil

  • 2 tbsp shea butter

  • 3 tbsp baking soda

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • 5 drops essential oil (lavender, tea tree, peppermint, lemon etc.)

  1. Use a double boiler and melt coconut oil and shea butter over simmering water. (You can also make a “double boiler” by putting a glass jar in the middle of a small pot of water.

  2. Remove from heat and add baking soda and cornstarch. Stir until smooth.

  3. Mix in your chosen essential oils.

  4. The deodorant will harden at room temperature. Use your fingers to apply it directly to your armpits, or pour it into an old, empty deodorant tube!

  5. If your home is warm, you will have to store the deodorant in your refrigerator to prevent the coconut oil from liquefying.

If you make this recipe, let us know how it goes! And if you customize the essential oils used, we would reeeeeeeeally love to hear about that too. Pretty please?
