Why Pasture Raised Eggs Are A Better Choice

Pasture raised eggs have more nutrients in them.

If the clothes we wear should be ethical, we think that passion can, and should, be extended to the food we eat one simple switch at a time!

That includes switching from conventional eggs to pasture raised eggs.

Pasture-raised eggs are different than "cage-free." Cage free sounds great. You'd think it means that the chickens are not kept in cages and are free to walk around the hen house, to perch on roosts, and to lay eggs in nests. But most conventional egg farms abuse this terminology and the chickens still live most of their lives crowded indoors fighting for access to small outdoors spaces.

Pasture raised, grass fed is what you are ideally looking for. Chickens fed extra feed can be fed corn, soy, and other GMO crops you don't want. Look for organic and non-GMO on the label.

Pasture-raised eggs are also better for you. In comparison to a conventional eggs, pasture-raised eggs contain:

  • 2/3 more vitamin A
  • 2 x more omega-3 fatty acids
  • 3 x more vitamin E
  • 7 x more beta carotene
  • 4-6 x more vitamin D

You're seriously getting so much more nutrition for your money!

But getting a pasture-raised egg also guarantees that the chickens are raised ethically, getting to roam and eat bugs and dirt the way they were made! And most farms use more sustainable farming practices that are MUCH better for the environment (and ultimately you!

Get your eggs at farmers markets, support local farms around you that sell them, or look for brands such as Vital Farms, which is setting new standards in how quality eggs are produced. You can find them in Whole Foods, Sprouts, and more stores all the time.

You can vote for a better world with your morning breakfast!
