Know the Route: Christmas Picks

We have to admit that every year shopping from your pajamas sounds better and better. There are more "one-stop-shop" boutiques online with sustainable, healthy, ethical options that make it possible to find great gifts without ever leaving your house! Route is one of those online resources.

When we first met the team at Route, the thing that impressed us most was their passion to help people reconnect with where the items they purchased came from. You can read our profile on the company's founder and board member, Christina Weaver, here! The company strives to be fully transparent with the items it curates and show shoppers "the route" each product takes to get from maker to Missouri, where the non-profit company operates online and has a brick and mortar shop in Columbia, Missouri.

The team at Route works hard to find products that are ethically made and fashionable. "We want you to be able to choose an ethically produced piece over a piece from a major retailer that is not ethically made and love it even more!" says the team at Route.

Here are five products we're loving for the Christmas season!

Bailey Ruana

Description: An elegant everyday throw-on ruana. Pair it with a tee, jeans, and booties (like the Espe booties from The Root Collective!). Navy & Grey Pictured. It's incredibly versatile and can be worn three ways!

Stephanie Bailey Duster Cardigan

Description: Pair it with skinny jeans, or over the Kyra Skirt, the Stephanie Cardigan is a flexible, easy layering piece for comfy lounging around the house or working at the office.

This duster is currated from Elegantees, a company designed with purpose to provide meaningful employment for women rescued from sex trafficking. Made in Nepal, one of the least developed countries in the world. Their designs creates a bright future for the survivor who made it.

Lan Shawl

Description: Light enough to bunch as a scarf and big enough to wrap as a shawl. Perfectly warm and stylish for the entire holiday season! You'll spot this shawl on page 41 of the SHE Holiday Handbook for a cozy Christmas morning look!

This product is produced by Marquet, a thoughtful company working to provide weavers in Vietnam and Thailand access to a larger market.  Your purchase from them provides a sustainable income to over twenty-five families in poor rural areas.  By paying fair wages, these families are able to stay in the countryside during the farming off-season, providing stability and a reliable income.

Flora Bobby Set

Description: Vintage-inspired delicate floral bobbies with a rhinestone detail. Comes as a set of two. How perfect are these for New Year's festivities! We think they would pair beautifully with our New Year's pick: the stunning Isla Blouse from Paloma El Paso on page 54 of the SHE Holiday Handbook! Seriously, all the heart eyes for these two paired together!

Crafted by WorldFind, which is dedicated to high quality, well designed products, produced in communities throughout India, Nepal and Indonesia. In the 13 years they have been working, they have provided supports from school funds for girls, to training artisans in management and leadership. These beautiful products are permanently changing lives.

Those are just a few of our favorites from the Route winter collection. Head to their website to check them all out.
